GARY NUMAN and DADADANG
LIKE A REFUGEE (I WON'T CRY)

FILMED IN THE MEDIEVAL HIGH TOWN OF CITALTA, BERGAMO, ITALY DURING DECEMBER 1993.

Producers Hugh and David Nicholson had arrived in Italy prior to filming to search for a location, they had a look at lake Como which because of the early morning mist was ruled out as it was so thick you couldn't see one metre in front of you, They then discovered Citalta. Permission for the filming then had to be sought from the mayor who kindly gave his approval.
The film crew, Tom O'Hare and Graham Bone of Classic Video Productions, Glasgow, Scotland, arrived two days before Gary to meet with Dadadang, the lighting and sound company and generally get a feel for the location.
The hotel was small but warm and the owners were very hospitable, also, being situated in the square of the town was perfect as the location for filming was the alleys and square of the town.
Gary flew into Milan airport with his father/manager Tony and mother/wardrobe Beryl to film the track, it was evening when they arrived and it was cold, dark and misty.
The next morning Gary met with the producers, film crew and Dadadang to approve the filming sequences.
The filming commenced early next morning and lasted into the night, Gary was the ultimate professional, performing at temperatures well below freezing point, and being patient during delays when the cameras started to freeze up. Dadadang also showed great patience and professionalism when individual filming of Gary was being carried out. Two days later, Gary flew home to West London, Tom and Graham to Glasgow, then Hugh travelled to Glasgow for the editing of the video. The video met with critical acclaim on release of 'Like A Refugee (I Won't Cry)
